School holidays: Longer waiting times possible

Due to the current holidays, there may be longer waiting times. Travellers are advised to arrive at the airport no earlier than 3 hours and no later than 2 hours before departure. Please find more tips  here.

Getting here by Train via Stuttgart Central Railway Station

Stuttgart Airport is easy to reach even at off-peak times thanks to its good transport connections. From Stuttgart's main railway station - part of the ICE, EC and IC network in the heart of the city - it takes around 30 minutes to get to the airport by city train or tram without changing trains. The city train takes you directly to the terminal, while the tram stop is located opposite the airport building, a 5-minute walk from the terminal. At off-peak times, the night bus line N8 also covers the journey from Schlossplatz to the airport.

From the main station to the airport, a ticket for 2 tariff zones must be purchased.

Arrival by city train (S-BahN)

The journey between Stuttgart Central Railway Station and Stuttgart Airport takes 27 minutes. The city train (S-Bahn) runs from Stuttgart Central Railway Station every 15 minutes per hour in core times, on the weekends every 30 minutes during off-peak hours. Furthermore you can reach the airport by city train once per hour Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.

You need a ticket for 2 zones from Stuttgart Central Railway Station to the airport.

Arrival by Tram

The U6 takes passengers from the main station to the airport in around 30 minutes. The stop is opposite the terminal, which is a 5-minute walk away. The trains run every 10 minutes in core time, on weekends every 10 minutes between 10 am to 7 pm.

From the main station to the airport, a ticket for 2 tariff zones must be purchased.

The night bus line N8 connects the city centre with the airport early in the morning and late in the evening. From 3:40 a.m., the night bus runs from Schlossplatz to the airport in around 40 minutes.

812/813: Flughafen – Bernhausen – Stetten – Echterdingen – Flughafen/Messe

X10: Kirchheim/Teck - Flughafen/Messe

X60: Leonberg - Flughafen/Messe

Expresso X3: Pfullingen – Reutlingen – Flughafen/Messe – Bernhausen

Stuttgart Airport Busterminal

The Stuttgart Airport Busterminal (SAB) is located directly between Flughafenstrasse and Terminal 4 of Stuttgart Airport. It is located at ground level beneath the newly built P14 car garage. The three lanes include a total of 18 bus platforms, with platforms 1 to 3 serving regional transport. National and international long-distance bus services leave from platforms 4 to 18, along with non-scheduled services.
