1993 Secured the World Championships in Athletics for Stuttgart
  Reorganized Stuttgart’s budget resulting in a major reduction of the city’s debt
1994 Voted for Stuttgart 21, a railway and urban development project
  Formed Verband Region Stuttgart
1996 Modernized the runway at Stuttgart’s airport
  Named Stuttgart’s citizen of honour
