Buses and trains
By train
Stuttgart Central Station is centrally located in the city centre and is connected to the long-distance rail network serving Germany and neighbouring countries. From there, you can take the S2 and S3 S-Bahn lines, which run every 15 minutes, directly to the airport. The journey takes around 25 to 30 minutes.
The U6 light rail line also runs to the airport. During peak hours, it runs every 10 minutes and stops at the ‘Flughafen/Messe’ stop. From there, it is about a 5-minute walk to the terminals.
By bus
The Stuttgart Airport Bus Terminal (SAB) is situated directly between Flughafenstraße and Terminal 4 – beneath the P14 car park. This is the starting and finishing point for regional and national bus routes, as well as express services, long-distance coaches and a night bus.
Bus platforms 1 to 3 are designated for local and regional services. Bus platforms 4 to 18 are used by national and international long-distance coaches, as well as occasional services.
Good to know: The N8 night bus service connects the airport with the city centre – early in the morning and late in the evening. From 3.40 am, the bus departs from Schlossplatz and reaches Stuttgart Airport in around 40 minutes.
Buying tickets for buses and trains
Tickets for the S-Bahn, light rail and regional buses are available from the ticket machines in the terminals. Alternatively, you can simply buy them online via the respective operators’ apps.
Long-distance coach tickets are available online via the transport companies’ websites – or in person at the Stuttgart Airport coach terminal, at the Gotowala travel agency and at the Deutsche Touring office (Eurolines) at the SAB coach terminal.
