Access and opening hours

The entrance to the Smart Lane checkpoint is in Terminal 1, Departures. All gates are easily accessible from there.

The Smart Lane is open daily from 4 am to 7 pm.

Good to know

Access to the Smart Lane is valid only for the booked 15 minutes.
Bookings for Schengen flights can be made up to 60 minutes before departure – at the earliest 48 hours beforehand.
For non-Schengen flights involving passport control, bookings can be made up to 90 minutes before departure.
You will need your flight number, name and email address to make a booking.
A booking can be made for up to 5 people at the same time.

Bookings can only be made using the form on this page.
Changes or cancellations can be made via the link in the confirmation email.
The security checkpoints in the other terminals can be used at any time, even if you have booked a specific time slot.
Important: Even if you are using the Smart Lane, please allow plenty of time for check-in and baggage drop-off before going through security.
Good to know: You may be assigned to a lane that is not equipped with a CT scanner, in which case the security check will be carried out differently. Please follow the staff member’s instructions in this case.
When booking a time slot marked in green, a voucher for food and drink is included in the booking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why isn't a suitable time slot being shown for my flight?

We can only offer a limited number of time slots. If no available slots are shown, they have all already been allocated. In this case, the standard security checks in Terminals 1, 2, 3 or 4 are available.

What happens if I’ve missed the time slot?

Access to the Smart Lane is only possible during the designated 15-minute period. Access cannot be guaranteed outside this time slot. If you arrive earlier or later, please use the regular security checkpoints in Terminals 1, 2, 3 or 4. If there is still enough time before your flight, you can also book a new time slot.

What is the latest time by which the Smart Lane can be used?

The last time slot available for booking is 1 hour before the scheduled departure time. Later time slots or later access to the Smart Lane are not possible.

Can I change or cancel my booking?

Yes, the email containing the booking confirmation includes a link that allows you to change or cancel your booking slot.

How can I book a time slot for several passengers?

One person may only book a time slot for a maximum of 5 travellers. For more than 5 people, a further booking must be made in the name of another traveller.

Can you get through this checkpoint with a wheelchair, walking frame or pushchair?

Yes, the Smart Lane passages are also suitable for pushchairs, walking frames and wheelchairs.

Can a child seat be brought along?

Yes, child seats are permitted as part of your checked-in luggage, provided the airline allows them.

Are suitable time slots already being suggested for the specific flight?

Yes, the time periods shown always relate to the specified flight.

When will I receive a restaurant voucher when I book the Smart Lane?

Time slots with a voucher for a hot drink are highlighted in green when you book. If no time slots with vouchers are displayed, there are no more vouchers available for this flight.

How can I use the restaurant voucher?

The catering voucher is valid for a hot drink of your choice at a price of 2.90 euros. It can be redeemed during the promotional period up to 30 November 2026 at Stuttgart Airport at MANFRED’S Snacks & Drinks and BARRY’S in Terminal 1, after security, during their respective opening hours. The voucher can only be redeemed once by the individuals named in the booking; it is non-transferable and cannot be combined with other discounts. The voucher must be presented in a legible condition when placing your order. Retroactive refunds and cash payments are not permitted.
