The Stuttgart television tower

A real landmark of the region: Stuttgart's television tower offers an impressive view over the city and far beyond. At 217 meters, it was the first tower in the world to be built from reinforced concrete 70 years ago. A historic achievement.

Today's landmark of the Stuttgart region was opened on February 5, 1956 - with a viewing platform at a dizzying height of 150 meters. Since then, it has not only been a great place to enjoy the view, but also a culinary highlight. The tower is considered an important cultural monument in the region.

Schlossplatz Stuttgart

The heart of the city of Stuttgart beats on the Schlossplatz. Events and festivals regularly take place here - for example the International Festival of Animated Film. At the same time, the square invites you to relax and linger.

Good to know: Schlossplatz was only opened to the public in the middle of the 19th century. Before that, it was used exclusively by the kings of Württemberg, who resided in the adjacent palace. If you take a stroll there today, you can still feel the air of royal history.

There are many sights around the palace park that can be easily discovered on foot - including the Stuttgart Art Museum.

If you prefer shopping, this is also the place to be. Königstrasse begins directly at Schlossplatz - at 1.2 kilometers, it is the longest continuous, car-free shopping street in Europe. It runs alongside the Königsbau, Stuttgart's oldest shopping arcade.

Mercedes-Benz Museum

Stuttgart is a special destination for anyone with a passion for cars: this is where concentrated horsepower meets over 130 years of automotive history. Two museums of the German automobile brands Daimler and Porsche make a visit to the city something special.

Right at the beginning, visitors are greeted by the multimedia installation Hegel for Beginners. Floor-to-ceiling projections and modern 3D technology blur the boundaries between image and reality. Impressive scenes provide an insight into Hegel's biography and philosophy.

One of the highlights is the Ludwigsburg Residential Palace - one of the largest preserved baroque palaces in Europe. 3 generations have contributed to its appearance. This makes the visit an exciting journey through different eras.

Europe's largest outlet is located just 20 minutes from Stuttgart Airport: Outletcity Metzingen is the perfect place for relaxed shopping. Over 150 brands are presented here in flagship stores - with reduced prices ranging from luxury and premium to sports, jewelry and home and living.

Numerous restaurants and cafés provide breaks in between. Open spaces and large outdoor areas, lovingly decorated depending on the season, round off the experience.

Good to know: Metzingen itself is a picturesque town with an old town and surrounding vineyards. This is where the Hugo Boss success story began - a small tailor's shop became a world-famous company.

How to get there: A shuttle service connects the airport and Stuttgart city center directly with the Outletcity.

Europa-Park

Germany's largest theme park makes it possible to explore 15 European countries in just one day. Each themed country delights with its own attractions, extraordinary architecture and regional gastronomy - an experience for all ages.

Good to know: If you want to plan more time, you can stay overnight in one of the themed hotels right next to Europa-Park. This allows you to continue your adventure the next day in a relaxed manner.

How to get there: Europa-Park is located around 170 kilometers from Stuttgart Airport and is easily accessible by car via the A5 freeway. There is also a shuttle service that runs directly from the airport to the park without a stopover.

Hohenzollern Castle

Hohenzollern Castle is closely linked to the history of Swabian counts, Prussian kings and German emperors. Originally built in the 11th century, the fortress was renovated in the 15th and 19th centuries. Today it sits enthroned on the Zollerberg and opens its doors to visitors from all over the world every day.

One of the highlights is the panoramic view: On a clear day, it stretches up to 100 kilometers into the distance.

Visitors to the castle can discover the magnificent Count's Hall, the Blue Salon and the treasure chamber with the Prussian royal crown. For a break in between, the castle restaurant serves regional specialties. In summer, the cozy castle beer garden also invites you to linger.

Urach waterfalls

A true natural wonder: the Urach waterfalls are an impressive sight and are considered the most beautiful waterfalls in the Swabian Alb. On the outskirts of Bad Urach, the water plunges 37 meters from a karst spring - a fascinating spectacle in the midst of nature.

Good to know: From April to October, you can combine your visit with a break at the waterfall hut. Regional products and delicacies are available here.

Esslingen

Esslingen - the former Free Imperial City - impresses with one of the oldest continuous rows of half-timbered houses in Germany and a completely preserved old town. Culture, culinary delights and nature between vineyards and the Neckar valley invite you to explore. The leisure activities on offer also leave nothing to be desired.

A leisurely stroll through the narrow alleyways reveals numerous sights: Esslingen Castle, old city gates, former manor houses and impressive churches characterize the cityscape.

Tübingen

Tübingen is one of the cities with one of the most beautiful medieval old towns in Germany - according to many who have taken the city to their hearts. The large university dominates the cityscape and, with around 29,000 students from all over the world, creates a cosmopolitan and tolerant atmosphere. No wonder Tübingen is considered one of the most liveable cities in Germany. Visitors can also sense this special attitude to life.
