Baggage

Less in your carry-on baggage, more in your suitcase

Carry-on baggage must not exceed a certain size. Therefore, as much as possible should be packed in large baggage. But beware: there are limits here too, and excess baggage will incur additional charges.

Whether the size and dimensions of your hand baggage are correct depends on the tariff you have booked. It is best to research this at home. You can check the size at the airport shortly before departure – we have special facilities next to the check-in counters for this purpose.

Tip: Each airline has its own baggage rules. A look at the airline’s website will help you avoid surprises.

What can you take with you – and what is better left at home?

When packing, it is worth taking a close look at the regulations. In addition to the airline’s rules, the safety regulations and customs requirements of the destination country also apply.
Important: Dangerous or prohibited items do not belong in your baggage – neither in your carry-on baggage nor in your suitcase.

Liquids in carry-on baggage?

Yes, but only in small quantities: maximum 100 millilitres per container, tightly sealed in a transparent 1-litre zip bag. Anything else should be placed in your checked baggage.

What can go in the suitcase?

ABCs of carry-on baggage

The list is not exhaustive. Follow-up checks are always possible.

A suitcase’s journey

The suitcase's journey begins after check-in with an initial X-ray check.

To ensure that nothing goes missing, every piece of luggage is monitored in the baggage control center - where employees keep an eye on everything via monitors.

An automatic baggage conveyor system then sorts the suitcases according to their destination.

Tip: You can find out more about the suitcase’s journey in the online flyer – including a video
