Quick tip

Use online check-in

Numerous airlines offer online check-in. This saves valuable time before departure and makes the start of the journey more relaxed.

Short distances to the terminal

Whether by car, S-Bahn or bus - the airport is easily accessible from everywhere, with short distances to all terminals.

The monitors at the entrances to Terminals 1 and 3 and at the S-Bahn entrances show which terminal the check-in counter for the flight is located in. Alternatively, the team at the information desk in Terminal 3 (Departures level) can also help. All levels are directly connected to each other.

The way to departure

To ensure that everything runs smoothly, it is important to be at the airline's check-in counter 2 to 3 hours before departure. The recommended time is also stated in the information that passengers receive after purchasing their ticket.

A flight ticket and passport or identity card are required at the airline check-in counter. Anyone who has checked in their baggage there will receive:

  • If required, the boarding pass with gate and seat number
  • Proof of checked baggage

Priority check-in

Quick and stress-free check-in

Many airlines offer priority check-in. This is a specially designated counter where authorized passengers can check in more quickly - without long queues.

Who can use priority check-in?

Eligibility depends on the flight ticket or status. For example:

  • First or business class ticket
  • Frequent flyer status or certain credit cards
  • As an extra to be booked or in selected fares

The exact conditions and availability vary depending on the airline and fare. Please contact the airlines for more information.

To the gate and boarding

After check-in, continue to the gate. The gate number is noted on the boarding pass and is also shown on the display boards and information pillars. You should be at the gate no later than the boarding time indicated.

Tip: Allow sufficient time for security and ID checks. We recommend keeping travel documents such as ID, boarding pass and flight ticket to hand. Passengers should also pay attention to loudspeaker announcements and display boards.

Online check-in

Many airlines offer online check-in. This saves valuable time before departure and makes the start of the journey more relaxed.

Good to know: Online check-in is usually possible 24 to 48 hours before departure - depending on the airline.

If you check in online in advance, you can choose your seats in good time and go directly to the security checkpoint if you are only carrying hand luggage. If you have checked baggage, you can use the self bag drop counters. If this service is not available for your destination, you can drop off your bags at the check-in counter. Note: Check with the airline.

Tip: Save your boarding pass on your smartphone - this way it is quickly to hand at the security checkpoint and during boarding and you save yourself the paper.

You can find all the details about online check-in on the websites of the respective airlines.

Check-in kiosks

Anyone traveling with Aegean, Turkish Airlines, Eurowings, Air France, KLM or Condor can use the electronic check-in kiosks. This saves time and is particularly practical for anyone traveling without documents to check.

Good to know: The check-in kiosks are intuitive to use and guide you step by step through the process.

Tip: If you have a question, you can contact the service staff on site at any time. They will be happy to help.

Evening check-in

Some airlines offer check-in the evening before at Stuttgart Airport - a practical service to make the day of departure more relaxed. Travelers check in their luggage the evening before and receive their boarding pass with their seat reservation. All they have to do is bring their flight ticket and ID with them to check-in.

Advantages

  • Saves time on the day of departure
  • Go straight to the security check with your boarding pass
  • Relaxed start to the journey

Good to know

  • Not all airlines offer this service. If you would like to use it, you should ask your airline in advance. They will also provide information on possible fees.
  • It is often not possible to check in the evening before with bulky baggage.

Tip: If you use the evening-before check-in, you should still allow enough time for the security check on the day of travel and be there at least 90 minutes before departure.

Self Bag Drop

Self Bag Drop is a service that allows travelers to check in their baggage themselves at special stations, saving time. Selected airlines offer this alternative to the traditional bag drop at the counter.

Location and use

The self bag drop stations are located in Terminal 3, Departures, at counters 320 to 329.

Important: If you have bulky baggage, first go to the check-in counter and then to the bulky baggage counter. Self Bag Drop cannot be used in this case.

Tip: The Self Bag Drop stations are designed to be user-friendly. If you are using the service for the first time and need assistance, you will usually find service staff on site to help you with any questions.
