Travelling with children
A stress-free start – even with a child on board. Good preparation makes things much easier. Those travelling with children will benefit from short distances and family-friendly facilities at Stuttgart Airport. Here are some tips for a stress-free journey with a child – from check-in to take-off
Prams and car seats
Prams, buggies and car seats are usually checked in as bulky luggage after check-in. The airline decides whether a car seat may be used on board – you can obtain information directly from them.
Good to know: The security scanners are designed to handle items up to 60 x 40 centimetres in size.
Hire buggies
At the bulky luggage counter in Terminal 4 on the departures level, you can swap your own buggy or pushchair for a hire buggy. You can take this with you right up to the gate, where staff will collect it from you.
Food
Baby food: At the Edeka and Budni chemist’s in Terminal 3 on the arrivals level, there is a wide selection of baby food for any parents who need to ‘top up’ their supplies.
Good to know: The Federal Police provide information on the rules for carrying baby food (for children up to 24 months) and medicine in your hand luggage.
Childcare
Nappy-changing rooms: There are just under 20 nappy-changing roomsin the public area and the gate area. These are ideal for looking after your child whilst out and about. Some rooms also have bottle warmers available.
Care products: Forgottenyour baby powder or run out of nappies? The Budni chemist’s in Terminal 3 on the arrivals level stocks a well-stocked range of baby and children’s care products.
Health
Pharmacy: The Aeroatoll Pharmacy in Terminal 2 on the departures level offers medicines and personalised advice.
Medical service: Anyone with medical queries can contact the team at the Airport Medical Centre in Terminal West – also on the departures level.
Children travelling alone
Many airlines offer a special escort service for children travelling unaccompanied. Bookings and details regarding this service are handled directly by the respective airline.
