FAQ students and pupils

At the end of the school year in Baden-Württemberg, we publish our job advertisements for apprenticeships and dual study programs starting the following September.

The selection procedures start in mid-September. Invitations are sent out around 2 to 3 weeks in advance. After confirmation of receipt, it may take a few weeks to hear back - especially during the vacation period. As a general rule, if you don't hear anything for a long time, you are still in the running.

Then there are no more places available for this start date. Job advertisements remain online until all vacancies have been filled. As soon as a vacancy is no longer visible, we can no longer accept applications for it.

Tip: The job newsletter regularly informs you about new vacancies - so you might be able to find a job next year.

We are currently unable to offer pre-study internships. Our focus is on supporting our trainees and dual students.

There is currently no capacity available for this.

No, we do not currently offer this option.

We only offer insights into our technical apprenticeships as part of the school career guidance program (BOGY/BORS). Internships are possible in the following areas:

• Electronics technician for industrial engineering (m/f/d)
• IT specialist for system integration (m/f/d)
• Automotive mechatronics technician (m/f/d)
• Mechatronics technician (m/f/d)

We are currently unable to offer commercial school internships.

If internships are available, they will appear on our careers page.

Note: We have no information about offers from other companies at the airport.

Applications are only possible via our online application portal. Please have the following documents ready:

• Curriculum vitae
• The last two school reports
• A short cover letter stating the desired period and motivation
• For applicants under the age of 18: Parents' declaration of consent to data processing
  

The school internship lasts one week. The online application portal lists the weeks in which an internship is possible in the respective training occupation. We cannot offer any other periods.

Internships are generally possible from grade 8 onwards.

If it is a compulsory school internship, it can also take place earlier.

A rejection is not an exclusion for the future. A later application is possible - simply resubmit via our online application portal .

Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH is responsible for the infrastructure at the airport.

Pilots and flight attendants work for the airlines. Air traffic controllers are employed by Deutsche Flugsicherung.

No, we do not offer this type of internship. We offer career guidance internships as part of BOGY or BORS during the school years - or as an internship semester as part of a degree course.

Our focus is on mandatory internships that must be completed as part of a degree course. Applicants for voluntary internships can also apply - however, we prefer applications for mandatory internships.

Ideally, the internship should last 6 months. A reduction to 5 months is possible in justified exceptional cases. The internship usually starts in March or September.

Yes, a speculative application is possible. We will check whether there is a suitable opportunity in the desired area.

In principle, this is possible - under the following conditions:

• You have already completed an internship with us

or

• You have a topic proposal that is relevant to a specialist department and meets with interest there

Please note: The assessment may take some time, as several departments may be involved.

Yes, rooms are available in the hall of residence for students doing an internship with us.

We require the following documents:

• Optional: further proof or certificates

The application phase for apprenticeships and study places usually starts at the beginning of the summer vacation in Baden-Württemberg - one year before the actual start date in September.

We advertise internships - such as school internships - depending on availability.

All applications received are carefully reviewed.

Coordination with the departments may take some time - especially if there are many applications. We therefore ask for your patience.

For apprenticeships and dual studies:

• After screening, we invite suitable applicants to a group selection process (assessment center) lasting around 4 to 5 hours.
• Contents: Self-presentation, written test and practical exercises
• Afterwards: telephone feedback and information as to whether you have been shortlisted
• If the feedback is positive, a personal interview will follow at the airport.

For a mandatory student internship:

• Anyone who convinces us on paper will be invited to a personal interview.
• This will be attended by colleagues from the specialist department and a representative from the HR department.
• The aim: to find out together whether we are a good match
  

Make sure that your documents are complete, correct and up-to-date - especially your contact details.

Additional evidence such as voluntary work or certificates for special skills are welcome and will help you stand out from the crowd.
