UN Global Compact
Stuttgart Airport is a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact – the world’s largest initiative for responsible business conduct. In doing so, the airport is clearly committed to the 10 principles covering the environment, human rights, labour and social standards, and anti-corruption. Progress in these four areas is reported transparently every year. Business partners are also expected to adhere to these principles.
Hidden Disabilities Sunflower
Stuttgart Airport is a member of Sunflower Hidden Disabilities. The programme supports people with non-visible disabilities and helps to make their time at the airport more pleasant.
Airport Carbon Accreditation
Through structured environmental management and modern technologies, Stuttgart Airport is making a targeted effort to reduce CO₂eq emissions both on the ground and in the air. STR has achieved Level 4 in the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) scheme – a climate management initiative run by the European airport association ACI Europe. The programme assesses airports’CO₂eq management across seven progressive levels.
EMAS environmental (non-)certification
Since 2013, Stuttgart Airport has held the EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) environmental certification. Through their audited environmental management system, Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH and its subsidiaries, Flughafen Stuttgart Energie GmbH and Stuttgart Airport Ground Handling GmbH, are improving their environmental performance. Clear targets are set and regular reports are produced on activities and progress.
THE aerospace LÄND
With THE aerospace LÄND, Baden-Württemberg, together with partners from academia and industry – including Stuttgart Airport – has charted a joint course in the aerospace sector. The economic region is one of Germany’s leading aerospace hubs and stands out for its excellent research infrastructure and highly specialised suppliers. A key objective of the network is to drive forward the future market for new technologies in aviation.
Public Corporate Governance Code
At Stuttgart Airport, corporate governance and compliance shape day-to-day operations. Responsible corporate governance – as described in the recommendations of the Baden-Württemberg Public Corporate Governance Code (PCGK) – and compliance with laws, regulations and codes of conduct are a central component of the Group’s strategy. The Code summarises key provisions of the applicable law governing the management and supervision of companies.
