A consistent course for genuine climate protection

Taking responsibility

Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH is taking decisive action to protect the climate. The airport demonstrates responsibility in its day-to-day operations – climate protection is a key area of focus for fairport STR and is firmly anchored in the company's strategy.

With its STRzero climate strategy, Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH is pursuing a clear goal: to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040. STRzero offers a binding and ambitious roadmap for achieving this.

Climate protection and resources

A strong team for safety

Operating an airport has an impact on the environment – that is undisputed. At the same time, there are numerous ways to limit these effects. We implement targeted measures to reduce pollution in areas such as noise, greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption.

Wherever it has influence, Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH is actively working to make operations more environmentally friendly.

Climate strategy

Binding plan at STR

The global community faces the challenge of significantly limiting man-made global warming. This requires a climate-neutral way of life and economy. This means that emissions of climate-damaging gases must be significantly reduced and carbon dioxide must be actively removed from the atmosphere.

If these measures are not taken, there will be far-reaching and irreversible consequences for the global climate – with repercussions for nature, society and the economy.

Electric mobility

Exhaust-free handling

Climate protection is a reality at Stuttgart Airport. We have been consistently committed to electric mobility on the apron for over three decades. The electric vehicles and equipment save around 300,000 litres of diesel per year – an important contribution to reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

At the same time, the working environment for service personnel is improved thanks to quieter operation and emission-free working.
