Roles of the emergency medical service

Rapid assistance directly on site

The emergency medical service is one of the most important components of the Stuttgart Airport Fire Brigade. With thousands of people passing through every day, medical emergencies can occur at any time. To ensure that help can be provided quickly in such situations, the airport’s emergency medical service is comprehensively equipped:

  • Emergency medical care and first aid: Medical care in emergencies – including preparedness for major incidents such as a mass casualty event, for example following an aircraft accident
  • Medical station with two treatment rooms: On-site medical service in accordance with the applicable UVV and GUV guidelines for the provision of initial medical care to patients following accidents or in the event of acute illnesses
  • Training ambulance station: The ambulance station at Stuttgart Airport is officially recognised as a training ambulance station.
  • Support for air ambulance flights and organ transport: Accompanying critical transport operations, such as organ transfers or special medical flights
  • First-aid training: For company staff, employees of external contractors and airlines
  • Disinfection measures: Carrying out disinfection procedures on aircraft, as well as within the ambulance service and the medical centre
