Who is required to wear a face mask?

All passengers ages six and up are required to wear a face mask (covering mouth and nose) in indoor and outdoor public areas on the premises of Stuttgart Airport. Possible exemptions are listed in the face mask regulation by the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg. The general disposition of the district of Esslingen also applies.

Do children need to wear a face mask?

Children ages six and up are required to wear a face mask.

Can I also use a face visor as a face mask?

No. According to the Corona regulation of the state of Baden-Württemberg, face visors are not considered an adequate substitute for a face mask. They can only be used as an additional measure to a face mask. Therefore a mask covering mouth and nose must be worn in all areas where masks are mandatory under the Corona regulation – including the airport

Do I need a certificate if I cannot wear a face mask?

Yes, a certificate is required. It should be carried along and presented when requested.

How can I protect myself in situations where distance to others cannot be kept?

All passengers and employees are required to wear a face mask in the terminal. Generally, a face mask should always be worn in public spaces when the required distance of 1.5 metres cannot be maintained continuously.

How is security screening currently carried out, in terms of social distancing and hygiene measures?

Keeping your distance to others and paying attention to signs and floor markings also applies at the security checkpoints. The contents of your pockets and smaller items, such as your mobile phone, should be stowed in your hand luggage or jacket. Please wear a face mask during security screening as well and only take it off when requested.

How many pieces of hand luggage am I currently allowed to take with me?

Only one piece of hand luggage is currently allowed at the security checkpoint. In addition, airlines have established their own regulations for handling carry-ons. Please check with your airline directly regarding these rules.

Due to additional regulations regarding Covid-19, longer wait times may occur. Please allow sufficient time in the current situation as well.

Can I skip quarantine if I test negative for Covid-19?

The quarantine regulations of your destination state apply. In Baden-Württemberg, as from 08 November 2020, you may be tested 5 days after entry at the earliest (please note the exceptions). The negative result may then be presented to shorten the quarantine period. Despite testing, some quarantine regulations may apply, so please always pay attention to the state regulations.

Can I be tested for Covid-19 at the airport?

From 16.11.2020, you can get tested at the Corona Test Centre of the State of Baden-Württemberg located at the airport. Testing is available by prior appointment, to passengers entitled to receive a test according to the new entry quarantine regulations and to self-payers. Further information

Residents of the Esslingen district can use the Covid-19 Drive-Thru Testing Centre on parking lot P30 at the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre. A code is required. It can be obtained after a telephone diagnosis from the family doctor, the public health department or from the medical on-call service by calling 116117.
